Privacy

1. If you visit the site

• Analytics. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and links are used, so we can improve the site. It records things like the pages you view, the links you click (for example to a venue’s website), your device and browser, and your approximate location (city level). It does not tell us who you are. You can opt out at any time with the “Analytics: opt out” link at the bottom of every page.
• Hosting. Our host (Vercel) keeps short-lived technical logs, including IP addresses, to run and protect the site.
• Maps. Maps are provided by Mapbox, which receives your IP address to load map images.
• On your device. The site remembers your search filters for the length of your visit, and your analytics choice if you opt out. This stays in your browser.

2. If you submit or update a listing

When you use our “List your sauna” form or email us, we collect your name, email address, your role at the venue and the venue details you send. We use this to check and publish the listing, to reply to you, and to keep a record of where each fact on the site came from.

3. If you run a venue

We collect business contact details (usually a general email address) from venues’ own public websites, so we can tell venues about their free listing and ask them to confirm details. You can ask us to stop at any time by replying to any email or writing to hello@saunamap.co.uk, and we will.

4. If you buy a Sponsored spot

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. We receive your name, business name, email address and the venue you tell us about, so we can set up your spot and send your monthly click report.

5. Our legal reasons

• Running and improving the site, and contacting venues about their own listing: our legitimate interests.
• Handling a listing submission or a Sponsored spot: to do what you asked us to do.
• Keeping payment records: legal obligation.

6. Who we share it with

Only service providers that act on our behalf: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database, stored in Ireland), Google (analytics), Mapbox (maps), Resend and Zoho (email) and Stripe (payments). We never sell personal information. Some providers are based in the US and use the safeguards UK law requires.

7. How long we keep it

• Listing submissions and venue correspondence: while the listing is on SaunaMap, and up to 2 years after.
• Analytics: no more than 14 months.
• Payment records: 6 years, as tax law requires.

8. Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@saunamap.co.uk. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

9. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
